Adapting Berries Into Healthy Recipes

Berries are great to adapt into your diet, promoting good hydration, high nutrition value, low in sugar and calories. At FitFarms Hollywood we focus on adapting a long term, sustainable nutrition plan into your everyday lifestyle.

You can adapt berries into lots of meals, adding flavour and nutrients to your dishes. Some of the best berries to start including in your meals include blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, cranberries, goji berries and acai berries. Each holding a combination of vitamins, antioxidants and health benefits.  

Berries Recipe: Lunch Option 

Berries and Spinach Salad with Grilled Chicken or Falafel  

Serves 1 

This lunch option provides protein, vitamins and nutrients; a great easy lunch option rich in flavour.   

Ingredients 

60g fresh spinach leaves  

150g of fresh berries, you could opt for any berries mentioned above  

150g of fresh chicken breast or 3 falafels 

30g of crumbles feta cheese  

30g of chopped walnuts   

30g of red onion  

Drizzle of light balsamic vinegar  

Method 

  1. In a large bowl add the fresh spinach leaves. Wash and slice the berries and add to the bowl alongside the spinach.  
  2. Grill the chicken and slice or chop your falafel into halves. 
  3. Assemble the salad together. Add the leaves and chicken/falafel to the bowl. Sprinkle the feta on top along with the walnuts, chopped red onion and drizzle with balsamic vinegar.  

Berries Recipe: Breakfast Option  

Berry Greek Yogurt Parfait  

Serves 1 

This breakfast provides an easy nutritious breakfast, providing a great form of protein, healthy fats and fibre.  

Ingredients 

150g of full fat Greek yogurt   

100g of mixed berries, choose from the ones mentioned above  

30g of granola, opt for a low sugar granola  

1 tbsp of chia seeds or flaxseeds  

1 teaspoon of organic, low sugar honey 

Method  

  1. Layer the parfait. Add half of the Greek yogurt to a glass.  
  2. Then add half the berries and half the granola.  
  3. Repeat the layers and drizzle a teaspoon of honey on top.
