Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Breakfast sets you up for the day, providing you with essential nutrients, helping with memory and brain function and kickstarts your energy levels.

Overnight oats is a simple and delicious breakfast, containing lots of health benefits and essential nutrients including copper, zinc, iron, vitamins, fiber, magnesium and more, improving digestion and supporting gut health. You can easily dress down or dress up this breakfast to your own preference, adding toppings such as fruit, chia seeds, walnuts, coconut or figs.

Overnight oats are great to batch make, allowing a quick and healthy breakfast option straight out the fridge.

What You’ll Need

Jars – However many servings you would like to make, collect that amount of jars. Jars a great way to make overnight oats because there easy to take to work in the morning and easy to store. Alternatively, you can use containers, or a tray/bowl and dish out a serving each day.

Oats – Depending how much you want to make, depends on how much oats you’ll need. For one serving ½ a cup, or 45g of oats.

Milk – At FitFarms – we recommend using either coconut milk or full fat milk, which are best for your health and contain no added ingredients. You’ll need the same proportion of milk as you do oats, 50/50 split.

Extra Toppings – To optimize the nutrients in your overnight oats, adding your choice of fruit, seeds, nuts or coconut shredding’s/honey will add some extra flavor, protein and vitamins to your meal.

Method

  1. Add your portion of oats individually to each jar, or all into your container/bowl.
  2. Add your choice of milk and stir well.
  3. Make sure your oats and milk are sealed and add into your fridge overnight.
  4. Simply dish out a portion in the morning and they’re ready to serve. Dress with your choice of extra toppings and enjoy!

What do you need to include in your breakfast?

Filling your breakfast with nutrients and vitamins is going to benefit you both in the short and long term. Including fiber and protein in your breakfast is key. Eggs on rye bread, overnight oats and healthy buckwheat pancakes are all great examples of a nutrient filled meal.
